Informations
Arturia Pigments 3 was already a soft-synth treat, so the wait for the next-gen edition has been long and less-than-patient, but it's finally over. Meet the fully updated and overhauled Pigment 4. For the most part, you're still getting an incredibly extensive virtual synthesizer complete with a stack of different engines (virtual analogue, wavetable, additive, granular) and a whole rack of filters, rich effects, and flexible modulation, so what else has Arturia piled on top?
What's New with Arturia Pigments 4?
The user interface has been given a redesign, and if you found the previous version a bit dark, then the light grey version will certainly brighten things up. Setting the modulation (so controlling a parameter via a signal) is now simply a question of dragging and dropping, and a new MS20 filter has been added so you can treat the sound to some renowned warmth and fattened bottom-end. The sound can also be made even bigger using the shiny-new Shimmer Reverb and Super Unison effects, while other effects including the filters and Bitcrusher have been upgraded. There are also new LFO waveforms, a phase-modulation, ring-modulation and plenty more to sink your teeth into. Basically, this is an enormous package for sound designers, whether working with synth pop, EDM, or even film soundtracks as well as standard music production.
