Omar Hakim has been an in-demand drummer for decades so it's no surprise he's featured on more than 500 albums. He's been endorsing Pearl products since 1986. His previous signature model had a mahogany shell but this time, he's gone for a 14 x 6.5-inch steel shell on his new signature model that commemorates his 30 years as a Pearl endorser. The finish on this snare is a real standout too.

The 14 x 6.5-inch steel shell is 1 mm thick and features a layer of titanium nitride that's been added using a special process known as Physical Vapor Deposition. That's not just responsible for adding extra strength but also the unique iridescent colour.

Shell hardware

Naturally, the hardware plays an important role in any snare drum, particularly when engaging and disengaging the snare wires. This model features a smooth and compact Click-Lock system. Stable tuning is assured thanks to the SuperHoop hoops, STL tension rods and subtle lugs. All in all, this is a full and deep-sounding snare drum with plenty of brightness. All of the hardware has a lovely nickel finish.
